Part 1 of Joyce’s five-part story – ‘First Time at Forty’
Joyce has just turned forty. She holds down an important job as a Chief Probation Officer in Westport, Conn., but her personal life is bleak. She is still a virgin – lonely and unfulfilled. Out of the blue she receives a visit from a TV company. They present her with an offer to take part in a new reality show which will feature her initiation into full womanhood. She is affronted and refuses point blank to accept their proposition. Then she meets the ‘lover’ they have lined up for her, the charismatic Raoul du Lamond, a wealthy vineyard owner from the Bordeaux region in France.
The idea for this 5-part serial ( the first part of the du Lamond family saga) was sparked when the author heard a TV company was producing a program about men and women who were virgins at the age of forty. She found the idea outrageous and the program too clinical, and decided to turn it on its head by writing a more romantic and empathetic treatment of the theme.
The story continues with Part 2 – ‘Joyce’s Turn’

I read this first book on one night (I stayed up late because I was curious to see how it developed). But once I finished this book I could not wait until I read the second one. I wanted to know what happened to Joyce and if she achieved her goal. After the second one, I wanted to know more, would they get together again or not. Book 3 was also entertaining, unexpected things happens that keeps you wanting to read more. I wa wondering what else could it happen to them? I really like the story although some of the things that happened I thought it was too much, it kept reminding me that it was a fiction book. I would certainly recommend it for an easy to read, fun book.Product details

This book kept my attention and was very well written. I absolutely loved it!!!!!!! I will definitely be reading more.
Although I quite enjoyed this first book in the series, the series totally deteriorated after this book. However I rated this one a three as it did keep my interest going, at least until the third book in the series.
Having read Waking the Wolf about another of the du Lamond family I was curious to see if Amanda Sandton could pull it off again. She did. Sandton’s plots are compelling and her characters are well developed. Wrap those up in excellent writing and you have some great entertainment. This is a great read and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Thanks Amanda
This genre is not one that I would normally pick up, but I enjoyed this book enough to be looking forward to reading Part 3. Really interested to see whether Joyce will duck and run again - or whether Raoul really is the strong sensitive type. Will he return, will he find another love interest and leave Joyce lonely again???
Yes, I really need Part 3 to answer the questions. And it is fun 'awakening' to a new genre, thankyou Amanda!
